You are always welcome at Living Grace!  Whether you are in town for just a short stay, yearn to build or rebuild your relationship with God, or are just wondering about Living Grace, you are always welcome here.  The ELCA affirms - This is Christ’s Church – there is a place for you here.

The first time doing anything can be intimidating or uncomfortable; that goes for visiting a new church for the first time as well. Customs and traditions may be new, people unfamiliar, expectations unknown. At Living Grace, we want you to experience without fear or judgment the joy that is a community united through faith in Jesus.

So what can I expect if I attend a worship service at Living Grace?  You will be greeted at the door with a smile (and a hymnal and bulletin as well).  The greeter will be happy to answer any initial questions you may have.

What time are worship services? We currently have one worship service each Sunday at 9 a.m. Please check our calendar for special service times for Christmas, Holy Week and other services. Our services typically last approximately 45-60 minutes.

Where are worship services? Do you have a building?
We are grateful and blessed to hold our worship services at a true Hawley landmark – the renovated Historic Garrick Theatre, located just down the street from the Hawley Post Office. We feel fortunate that God has provided a flexible, no-debt, wonderfully unique space for us to worship.   This reminds us a building is not the church; people are the church, and church happens not only on Sunday mornings but Monday through Saturday as well.

Does it matter what I wear to worship?
No.  Please wear whatever you are comfortable in.

Can I bring my children/grandchildren?

Of course.   Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” Check out the worship page for tools for bringing children to worship.

Will I have to say anything, give anything, or do anything?
No, but you can if you want to.  We all have different God-given abilities and talents.  No one is expected to do anything, but all are welcome to contribute in any way they feel comfortable.  (And you are always welcome to stretch yourself and participate in ways that might be new to you.)

Is Communion open to everyone?
Yes. Communion is the Lord’s Supper and all are welcome. You do not have to be a member of Living Grace or a Lutheran to come to the Lord’s table of grace. Admission to the sacrament of communion is by invitation of the Lord, presented through the church.  Children who have not yet received communion are invited to come forward with their family/friends and receive a blessing.

What happens after worship?
After worship we take down and put away our altar, other worship items, and hymnals.  We then gather for coffee, cookies, and good and lively conversation. We invite you to stay for this time so you can experience what the Living Grace community is all about.

How can I become a member of Living Grace?
First we hope you’ll begin by worshipping with us and exploring how Living Grace might deepen your spiritual life as you follow the Lord Jesus. Discussions about membership can follow if that is your wish.
