Visitors are always welcome at Living Grace! Whether you are in town for just a short stay or are looking for a new church, we want to help you feel at home.
Visiting a new church for the first time can be intimidating. The customs and traditions may be new, the people unfamiliar, the expectations unknown. Too often people allow fear of the unknown to keep them from experimenting with a new church, but at Living Grace Lutheran Church we aim to make it easy for newcomers to experience the joy that is a community united through faith in Jesus.
Frequently Asked Questions
I’d like to attend a worship service. Are newcomers welcome?
Yes, absolutely! Living Grace Lutheran Church encourages visitors at all of its worship services. Greeters will be waiting at the entrance to welcome you with a smile and provide you with a bulletin that describes each step of the worship service. They can also answer any initial questions you may have.
What time is your worship service?
We currently have one worship service each Sunday at 9 a.m. Please check our calendar for special service times for Christmas, Holy Week and other services. Our services typically last approximately 45-60 minutes.
Where do you worship? Do you have a building?
For worship, we are blessed to be using the newly renovated Garrick Theater. Most of our meetings take place at the church office. As a new congregation we feel fortunate that God has provided a flexible, no-debt, wonderfully unique space to meet. Although we will build in the future, this helps promote the value that people are the church, and that church happens best Monday through Saturday as we rub elbows with those who need Jesus.
What should I wear?
Everyone is welcome at Living Grace. We encourage visitors from all walks of life, and we want them to feel comfortable, so come as you are. Most worshipers wear what they commonly would to school or work.
Does Living Grace welcome children?
Yes! Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” As a community of faith we echo his invitation in all aspects of our life together. Check out the worship page for tools for bringing children to worship.
Will I have to say anything, give anything, or do anything?
No, but all are welcome to join us in anyway they feel welcome in participating in both the worship service and the ministry of Living Grace.
Is Communion open to everyone?
Yes. Communion is the Lord’s Supper and all are welcome. You do not have to be a member of Living Grace or a Lutheran to come to the Lord’s Table of grace. Children who have not yet received communion are invited to come forward with their family and friends and receive a blessing.
What happens after worship?
After worship children 3 years old – 6th grade can attend Sunday School where they continue to learn about the morning’s message through songs, stories and activities. Adults gather for coffee, treats, and conversation. We invite you to stay for this time so you can get a feel for what the Living Grace community is all about.
How can I become a member of Living Grace?
First we hope you’ll begin by worshipping with us and exploring how Living Grace might deepen your spiritual life as you follow the Lord Jesus. Membership classes and New Member Sundays, when we officially receive new members into our community of faith, occur a few times each year. If you are interested in becoming a member at Living Grace please contact the church office for upcoming class dates and times.
