YOUTH MINISTRIES
Faith Milestones
So many important faith milestones, including Baptism and Communion, happen during the childhood years. The parents, caregivers, baptismal sponsors, confirmation mentors and the entire congregation have a wonderful and serious responsibility. Living in the baptismal covenant means proclaiming to children the Good News of God’s abundant love and grace. This love and grace is manifested in Baptism and Communion, and it is revealed in God’s Word, the Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, the Creed, and ultimately in our daily life.
Living Grace Lutheran Church seeks to partner with families through education and a supportive community. We provide instruction for children to help them feel comfortable, ready and at ease as they approach the mystery of God’s presence in the sacraments and other faith milestones.
Baptism
Baptism is entrance into the community of God’s people—the birth into a great family. Baptism initiates a lifelong journey that shapes every aspect of our lives and gives meaning to every moment.
Entrance into Sunday School
Entering Sunday School is a milestone for children age 3 and is a big step for both children and their parents! Children need assurances that Sunday School is a safe place for them, and their parents need to learn that Sunday School is a ministry that partners with the home to pass on faith, values, and character formation. Partnering home and congregation is emphasized through a look at baptismal promises of God and the baptismal commitments of parents and other caregivers. This milestone is celebrated in the fall on Rally Day.
Sunday School for Ages 3 through Confirmation
Sunday School is a great place for children to learn about the word of God in a comfortable, loving environment. The intention is that children connect what they are learning at church to the rest of their world.
Confirmation
Confirming one's faith is an exciting, challenging, and faithful journey, usually for eighth and ninth grade students though older students are welcome. Contact the Leader Team for further information.
